Counting My Blessings

My life is filled with so much goodness right now.  The opportunity to share art experiences with the kids in the community has only made the drive to create stronger.  Add to that a recent trip out west, and my head is swimming in colors and ideas for new paintings.  When I sit down to draw, I usually don't have a specific idea or plan.   What would I do without a sketchbook?!  It's my dose of peaceful meditation.  Lately, birds keep showing up when I put my pencil on the blank page.  The best thing to do is just let it happen.  Some drawings are beautiful, some are stale, and some are just plain weird.  It's all part of the process. When I'm ready, I head upstairs to paint.  These two bird paintings came flooding out of the paint tubes.  The owl was finished in two evenings.  The small bird bloomed in just a few hours.
