A few years ago, I learned about Art Trading Cards (ATCs). I shared them with family, friends, and students and the reactions were unanimous. They were a hit! For one, the cards are small (2.5" x 3.5") making them less threatening to the wary artist. ATCs can be made collaged, drawn, painted, sewn, etc. The idea is to make a card then trade yours with someone else. Age and artistic experience matter not. What matters is having fun and sharing with others. Today, I set up this bulletin board at our co-op in preparation for the rest of the school year. I can't wait to see what happens. There are a few cards from helpful artists to get the board started.
The instructions are clearly stated to make this an easy board to navigate. Grab a blank card. Put your art all over it. Sign it and hang it back up. Pick another artist's card to take for your very own.
There are pencils, pens, markers, and crayons in these handy holders made out of duct tape.
